Question 7
http://slides.com/bushraali/prelim/live
My question 7 has been put on Slides. If you click on this link then it will direct you straight to my presentation.
Question 4
With this prezi me and summer worked together to create it , we researched it separately and then put our research together to create this prezi as one.
Question 6
This camera is what I used to film my title sequence. It was helpful as it was top quality and could film outdoor with good picture. |
Question 7
This is my Prelim and my final title sequence film , to show and compare how much progress and skills have changed and improved.
Question 4- Who would be the audience for your media product?
For this question me and Beau decided to help each other create this Prezi, by researching through the work we had done previously in classes and putting out information together.

Evidence of Editing
This is evidence of me editing. I tried to create and duplicate the pattern that my group member beau did. I experimented quite a lot before I made the final one.

Garage band
Garage band
We used plenty of sounds from garage band. We had one specific sound that ran all through the title sequence. We got this idea from Taken this gives our title sequence a scary/ eerie effect.
We then added some sounds that would really create a dark and horror atmosphere
In order to make our sound better we decided to record Summer saying things that would make us really feel some sympathy for her. It would give the audience a sense of just how scared the character Jess must have been. Her fear comes through in the little lines that we have put in the title sequence. She says 'WHY ME', 'I THINK SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING ME' and 'HELP'. With a few screams that we have recorded all of this shows us what Jess must of been going through. The audience is sure to be very confused because they wont know what is happening however that's the mystery we were trying to create.
Motion
Motion
We decided to make our titles simple but not boring. If it was too complicated it would not be very realistic.
We made a list of titles that we planned to use. Instead of using our names over and over again, we used names of friends and people that we know (to make it more realistic).
We experimented for quite a few lessons before making our final titles. We used a white background with black writing. This seemed like a good idea however when we put it on top our scenes we expected it to automatically become transparent but this did not happen.
We were told that we had to use a black background so we got rid of everything we did and started again. This time we used a black background with white writing. When we merged the titles with the scenes it become transparent and the way wanted it.

Deadline
Deadline-
The day of our title sequence deadline, two of our group members came together after school to put the final touches on our title sequences. We had our sound finished on garage band, we had our titles finished on motion and we had our scenes finished on final cut pro.
We had many issues leading up to the deadline. We realised that the titles we made on Motion were not transparent therefore were not able to go over our scenes. We struggled so much but the help from the technicians showed us what we were doing wrong. Once we were able to figure out what we were doing, we made the titles much quicker and much more efficiently.
After we did that we added the music, the titles and the scenes together. With help from our teacher and flow students advice, we made the changes that was required to make our title sequence better.
We have until the 20th of March to finish our blogs which means I am able to use the feedback I have received to improve my blog/

Filmic Influences
FILMIC INFLUECES
The title sequence for this movie is decretive. This is what influenced my group to do a decretive title sequence for our youth drama.
A decretive title sequence is what creates a horror and scary mood.
The reason we used this type of title sequence because we wanted to put all the scenes we filmed into a random order. This was to create a sense of mystery. This would give the audience a chance to really see what happened to our main character during the rest of the film The title sequence of SE7EN also has many filters and that is what we used as well. The storyline has nothing to do with our title sequence however the mystery and the horror is what we used to influence our title sequence WATCHED.

evidence of editing
This is me editing the poster shot , I done lots of different things such as change the rotation and how fast or slow i wanted it to rotate. This was the first time I used this editing skill , but now i know how to do it so in the future I will be able to use it more.
Feedback
Blogging Checklist
I have received extra feedback from my teacher. Since we are getting closer to our deadlines I have a personal checklist of stuff that i need to add to the blog in order to get my grade up. With this feedback I know what i need to do and how i can improve my blog post.
Before Friday I plan to have completed this checklist and updated my blog.
Taken
Taken- We have used taken as inspiration for our title sequence.
The signiture colour red is something that we are plan to use with our titles and with filters over our scenes.
The continuous music used to create a horror effect is something that we also plan to use in our title sequence.
We don't plan to copy everything from Taken however when watching our title sequence it will be obvious what our inspiration was.

Feedback
FEEDBACK FROM ONE ON ONES-
The feedback I got from my one on ones told me what I was lacking from my blogging and what I was doing well. When it comes to the planning for filming and the pitch I was told that I was doing very well. I was clear about what our plan for our title sequence was.
What I was- told to improve was the rate of which I blog. I need to blog more instead of blogging all at once in one day. Every time that we film or we edit it would benefit me if I blogged straight after that.
What I have done since my feedback
What I was- told to improve was the rate of which I blog. I need to blog more instead of blogging all at once in one day. Every time that we film or we edit it would benefit me if I blogged straight after that.
What I have done since my feedback
- I have made a diary of filming so that when we film I blog straight after it.
- I have been screen shotting all the editing we have been doing and blogging it.
- I have been getting feedback from students and using it to improve our title sequences.

Evaluaion of Rough Cut
Evaluation of Rough Cut:
From completing our rough cut we have learned what we are doing well and what it is we need to improve on.
The different scenes and the random order of our rough cut highlights the decretive title sequence we are aiming for. We used different colours and some slow motion to make our title sequence have the genre of thriller/ horror. It also makes our title sequence more interesting.
We have many improvements to make before our title sequence is perfect. We need improve the transition between the scenes so our title sequences flow better. Also from the feedback we have got we know that we have to add more scenes to our title sequence. At the moment it is very short however we filmed many scenes so we have a widened variety to choose from. This will benefit us to make our final title sequence longer. Our rough cut at the moment does not have any titles apart from our movie name and production company. We plan to add many more for our final title sequences.

garage band - rough cut
This is a rough cut of our soundtrack that we made on garage band , we was just looking around at the different sounds that we could of used in our title sequence, because our rough copy of the title sequence wasn't ready when we was doing so we couldn't have have the film in the background so we had to guess where to put sounds. However , at the end we come up with some good ideas to use.
Dans feedback
We made dan watch our title sequence how we have done it so far , he like it and he thinks that it is much better than the one we showed him a few weeks ago meaning we have improved it and listened to his other feedback.
This time he only had 2 critics to say about it.:
1) His not to sure on the colour red for our title 'Watched'
2) The shot with the phone he says that its like dialogue and doesn't fit in.
we listened to his feedback and will addd to it. However, we do not agree with his comment about 'red' as we are using that colour because it is what has inspired us from the film take. But we have took on his other comment and we are going to improve for next time he watches it.

Motion
I experimented with motion to see what type of interesting titles we could use. 'summer borland' is the actress playing the main character and i used her name to give me an idea o what all the other titles would look like. The bottom image shows that i tried different angles to make it more interesting.
Editing process.
In the editing process , I went through all image control to see what effects will be useful to use in our title sequence. I came across 3 effects that I liked and which will link with our theme of thriller/horror, and as we are doing a discreet title sequence these effects will show throughout the title sequence. I chose the dark and mysterious colours to give of the mysterious vibe to the audience. One I got the hang of it it was easier and quicker for me to edit shots and put effects on them with out any struggle.
Another editing process I repeated though out what to dissolve shots over one another to create a dramatic feeling and looks more professional.
Below are screenshots of the effects I used and how I used them:
For this shot I used a negative effect, as it shows the setting I thought it would give of a negative vibe which links to our thriller title sequence. |
For this shot I chose a sepia effect and I repeated it throughout the sequence on different shots that I thought would look good. |
I also used a negative effect here but i repeated the shot , so all shots are in different effects to carry on the descreet title sequence. |
This is just a screen shot of my editing process and how I put on the effects. |
Task 15 analysing High School Drama (Easy A)
This is some of the work I have completed in class, in which i had to analyze the camera, editing, mise-en-scene and sound of a High School Drama called Easy A.
editing process- 9/2/2015
As we have changed our title sequence to a discreet sequence I have been experimenting with the editing. I have done quick rapid shots so we don't give to much of the story away but also made it quite scary and gloomy for the audience to watch.
As a group we changed it because we was influenced by the title sequences;
Arlington road
Seven
We was influenced wight the odours and the shots that have been used in these sequences.
Also the music you could hear whilst we watched these sequenced made an impact on what our music wanted to be like.

Update on title sequence
We are currently in the middle of editing our title sequence through garageband as we are adding all of the non-diagetic and diagetic sounds to make our title more effective. This is coming along very well as we are using sounds that fit into the theme of the title sequence.
This is a screenshot we have taken which Beau is currently editing while Bushra is making the titles through motion capture. We decided to voice record my self on one of our phones of different recordings of me saying things that will be said in the film. This has worked out well as it combines with the images that come up when there is a voiceover of different memorable sayings.
