How to make a sound track on garage band

To make a soundtrack on garage band , you first of all need to pick what band to use and obviously in this case you click garage, which it comes up as a guitar.

You then listen to all the beats that click your interest then when you hear sounds you like you drag them on to the side bar like the pictures above, then you make loops with your selected beats.
the green bars are the sounds that you have picked and made your self, and the blue bars are soundtracks that you might have chose to play in the back ground with the beats that you have picked aswell.
You can chose any beats and plot them in any where so it plays when you want it to play.
At then end you listen to your finished beat and make any changes if you fell you want to improve it.

It is very quick and easy and it gives you the chance to make your own sounds to fit in with what your making.

When using garage band in media you have two types to chose from , The two we will be picking from are 'loops' and 'movie' , in media we will be using both but as we don't have a movie or in this case a title sequence we will be using the loops just to get an idea of what sort of sounds to add, however , we could make a rough copy to make it easier to see what sounds will fit in well and when we do have the actual sequence to use we already have experience with sound track and would of already had an idea of what we would like to use , it would also save time.

This shows all the different genres that you can get in watching a film, as you can see there are many genres to chose from. The most popular one is drama and you tend to find out that comedy is the most preferred from teenagers and what people like the most. The second most popular one is comedy and as group when we done a survey our self we found that teens preferred comedy the best out of all the genres.
From this chart we can see that the least most popular one is Noir one reason why that could be is a lot of teenagers may not even know what that is.
This chart has will help us as group because it gives us a better idea in what people like.

Our plan for the remake of the film ' A room for romeo brass'

First thing that we did was we watched two title sequences in class together, we watched 'the breakfast club' and  'A room for romeo brass'. As a group we decided we wanted to remake a room for romeo brass. the next thing that we did is we sat down and wrote down each shot that we see on a list so it will help us when we film. We decided where we will be filming and who we play which part.
After that we drew the shot list so we could see it more clearly and so we know what to do when we film.

We had a limited time to film and edit. We had 1 and a half to film so we tried to complete it and at the end we finished it with the best we can. Then we had 1 hour and half to edit.

Equipment we used when doing our remake.

- Camera

- Fig rig

- Tri-pod

Props that we used.

- Newspaper for chips

- Chairs for benches

Green screen for the background of a park.

This is our picture shot list of the remake of the film 'A room for romeo brass', this will help us when we are filming because we can use it for visual images and also save us time.

What is Genre?

The term Genre means the type or category of something e.g music, film. This allows us to organise a large number of films into a smaller group.

There are all kinds of genre such as:

This helps audiences decide about what they want to watch and what interest's they have with films.

Differences between the two sub-games

As you can see there is a difference in the two because high school drama has more titles at the beginning , where as youth drama has less.
They both begin with the production company and list stars. However the high school films are much longer as they credit more people in comparison to  youth dramas. High school opening sequences  tend to be stylized also.

                                                                     Target Audience

What is an audience?

An audience is a group of people who participate in a show or encounter a work of art. For example, a audience in the cinema are the people who are sitting in the cinema watching the film.

There are 3 types of audiences:

1) Primary - Main audience - has direct interest in the selected product.

2) Secondary - Secondary audience - product that is not designed for them, however they may view it because of their children , friends , family ect.

3) Tertiary - They're slightly interested in the product due to something they know within it. Would not usually view/read it.

Target audience

A target audience is determined by several characteristics. Depending on the product, marketing teams will consider the age and gender that will be most interested in making a purchase. Companies will also consider the income range of their potential buyers, as well as where they are in life. For example, a bachelor just out of college has different needs than a successful businessman with three kids and a wife. Other considerations for determining a target audience include lifestyle, career, location (including urban or suburban), education, and hobbies, among others.
A example of a particular target audience are teenagers. A film could be just aimed at teenagers because of the location , cast and genre of the film.

Target audience will include:

. Age
. Gender
. Class
. Ethnic group
. Interests
. Qualifications

Why is it useful for a film to have a target audience?

It is useful for a film to have a target audience because you know exactly who your film will target so you know to add interests for them to want to watch the film, and by getting exactly what your audience wants will make a film a success. You also know exactly who will be watching the film.

Audiences teen dramas appeal to?

We think that teen dramas appeal to teenagers between the age 14-19.  Mainly more aimed to the girls than the boys however some boys will watch teen dramas, but when you hear teen drama you basically think 'chick flick' . Also teenagers who are in education and their interests will be having a sport and who like to sit at home and watch movies.
However , we think teen dramas can also appeal to parents as some teenagers want to watch with a parent, more mother and daughter , and also if your a parent you come across watching it anyway. Therefore, we think teen dramas appeal more to teenagers and parents.

What is a title sequence?

Title sequence:
A title sequence is a method used by films to present their title, key production and cast members.

A good title sequence includes a variety of special techniques which sets a expectation of what its going to be like as it dub tails simultaneously into the film.

Therefore allowing us to be intrigued into the film and gets us excited to watch the film.

The font is an important tool within the film as it shows the aspects of the film and how its integrated within the film, we learn this through watching Kyle Coopers interview about his film SEVEN.
The typography is seen to be important as it represents the contrast it has with the film and can be very simple yet very effective in the title sequence.
Another important tool is the music as it sets the tone of the film and allows us to focus on the theme and what the film is about.

The term 'story based' main title sequence means the specific back story from which the film comes from and is seen as a clear metaphor of what the film is about.

Studios may have problems when facing title sequences due to audience test screening as they may not have enough budget to do another shoot therefore putting them at a disadvantage.

The 2 1/2 minutes are important for the studio as it allows them to put in information that got left out, advances the initially thought of the film and allows it to become a extra scene or prologue for the film.

The title design is very important within filimg as this can help the movie and tell the back story which puts the audience ahead. It also overlaps and converges with designers becoming involved with creation of content.

A title sequence is the beginning of the film. a good title sequence should have the following:
  • Suspend disbelief-when the viewer is 'transported' and for the duration of the film forgets it is not real.
  • Shows of the main character and main character , which means the tile sequence could show of the location where the film will be set and the main character could be the only character you see in the title sequence.
  •  Sets the tone of the film/gives clues as to what is to come.
  • A piece of art in itself.
  • Signifies contemporary art or modern pop.
  • Connect seamlessly into the film, to give meaning to the audience in what may be in the film.
  • Iconic and original meaning you wont have seen a same title sequence.
A good example of a good title sequence is 'Forest gump' , one reason why this is a good title sequence is at the beginning of the sequence is establishes the location where the film will be set and it done that by the camera following a little white feather around through the town but by doing that wee see a lot of the location. Another reason is that right at the end the feather lands on a man meaning that he is the main character in the film , so straight away just from the tile sequence we know where the film is being located and who the main character is.

Here are the pictures from the title sequence showing the location and main character, we can obviously see that Tom hanks will be the main character in the film and the location is in America.

We are focusing on teen drama films, here are a few films as a group we know as being teen dramas:
